HeatSync Labs Nonprofit: Arizona’s first Hackerspace

In October of 2009, I joined a couple of friends in starting Arizona’s first nonprofit hackerspace, HeatSync Labs. From 2009-2011, I served on the Board of Directors as the Director of Marketing. During this time, we worked with the local community to spread the word on hackerspaces / makerspaces and establish HeatSync Labs under official nonprofit status.

Among the numerous projects and events over the years, noteworthy events include helping with the successful Epilogue lasercutter Kickstarter project, managing logistics for the HeatSync Labs one year anniversary Mustaches, Music, and Mad Science Event, facilitating the search and move from Gangplank coworking space to our current downtown Mesa location, and representing HeatSync Labs at the 2010-11 Bay area Maker Faire.
